Kenalog steroid keloid

Hi Dr Tan, I have 2 keloids; one on my ear, another one on my chest.
The keloid on my ear has been there for 4 years. I’ve had surgery twice at TTSH (year 2010 & 2013) and several steroid injections after the surgery. It was fine until recently the bump increased to almost 1cm.
The one on my chest has been there for almost 4 years as well. but i have not had any treatments for that, it’s approx 2cm big. i’ve seen positive treatments on cryotherapy or laser treatments… may i know the price of the treatments? i would also like to visit your clinic for appointment. isit better if i call or walk-in? thanks!

Hello? I’ve had Keloids for the past 8 yrs. Started as apimple, didn’t pay much attention to it till it started growing. Its on my chest and its about the length of my small finger. It has attracted two more and the itching is horrendous! I’ve recently developed two along my jawline. I’ve tried ACV..the pain was too much! Hydrocortisone ointment didn’t do much. Extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil eased the discomfort, but that’s about it…currently using tea tree oil, undiluted…..been on it for three days now, yet to see improvements. Read on here about virgin saliva being of help? will certainly try that!!! Thanks and good luck to us all! God bless!

We hypothesize that the fibroblast, or the myofibroblast, or both are the key cells responsible for keloid and hypertrophic scar formation. These cell types produce the bulk of extracellular matrix components during normal wound healing. In fact, experimental evidence suggests that hypertrophic scars and keloids result from excessive amounts of collagen and proteoglycan production or from lack of remodeling of these moieties.''-" We also hypothesize that wound tension is a major factor in the formation of both the hypertrophic scar and the keloid, which occurs secondary to direct biochemical changes induced by this mechanical factor. Most likely these changes are a direct result of the effect of wound tension on the metabolism of the fibroblast or myofibroblast. Fibroblasts have been shown to increase cell proliferation in response to mechanical tension in Mechanical stretch alone has been shown to raise the number of myofibroblasts in mouse dermis in Presumably, mechanical tension is also responsible for a positive balance in the collagen and proteoglycan production-degradation cycle in the wound healing under excessive tension. We are currently studying the effects of mechanical tension on wound healing at the biochemical level. The cause-effect relationship between hypertrophic scar and keloid formation as well as other etiologic factors, such as the age and race of the patient, remain more highly speculative and are not discussed here.

It's basically one half quality aloe vera gel and one half moo goo msm cream(moo goo are an Australian company, it's widely available here in Ireland) with a few drops of tea tree, lavender and calendula oils. I don't always have all five ingredients but for some reason i feel it works better if you mix it up a bit, two weeks of tea tree, two weeks of lavender and calendula. There's no fixed method and all ingredients are good for your skin in general, especially if you're prone to acne and scarring. It is i feel good to have the aloe vera and msm to dilute the oils though and they can be a bit harsh on their own in my experience and the msm, I've read, helps the oils permeate the outer scar tissue to get to problem inside.
